It’s a treasure hunt!

Posted on 11 February, 2010

In the final stages of The Nerdies 2010, 10 bloggers around South Africa have been selected to be part of a sudden show down to readers across the country to win some pretty cool prizes in the form of an online treasure hunt.
Up for grabs to the first three lucky treasure hunters:

1 years subscription to Connect Magazine, [...]

Go Coffee Hillcrest

Posted on 16 January, 2010

Sitting here at Go Coffee in Hillcrest eating this amazing, no incredible and very fresh Chocolate Croissant, I think back to all the experiences I have had with past visits to other coffee places. I think back to all the poor service, cold coffee, pretty mundane menu choices and food as bland as Gordon Brown. [...]

Brand new Cape Town Airport

Posted on 06 November, 2009

A few years back, well 2004 to be exact I experienced my first trip to Cape Town, albeit for only 2 days on business.  I was super excited to see The Mother City, and experience the Cape Town holiday that everybody had been telling me about.

As I landed at the airport, my first thought was [...]

Am I crazy? I think not.

Posted on 07 October, 2009

So, last night, in a last minute decision, I decided to take part in the Amashova Cycle Race on 18 October here in Durban.
The main event is a 106km cycle from Hilton through to Sun Coast Casino, but there is absolutely no way I am going to manage that, so I’m heading for the 38km [...]

2010 Durban Website

Posted on 01 September, 2009

At our last 27Dinner meeting, we had Richard McClennan from Adapt-IT discussing the costs involved in the controversial R6.5m Durban 2010 website.
Quite simply, this is what he had to say…

R6.5m is NOT JUST for the website
R870,000 has been allocated to phase one of the website
The rest is for infrastructure

This includes Sharepoint Licensing
Implementation of sharepoint within [...]

Latest on Durban’s 2010 Stadium

Posted on 28 August, 2009

A few of us bloggers were invited along for a tour of the Durban 2010 Soccer Stadium.  What an absolute marvel this structure is.
We were briefly … uh … well … briefed about safety procedures, death rates, injury rates and to not walk and talk on our phones at the same time.  With formalities out [...]

Core vs. C.A.B.

Posted on 29 June, 2009

Radio 702 held a discussion involving  Core Group Executive Director, RJ van Spaandonk and Cool Apple Buddies Store (Sandton) owner, Sharon [Schwarma] (not sure of the spelling of her surname).
The chat “sort of” covered the following subjects:

CAB Store being a grey importer
Core Group being a distributor and a reseller in the same market
Core Group’s ludicrous [...]

Woolworths get it in the cookie

Posted on 25 June, 2009

I received this e-mail from a friend.  It talks about Woolworths and how they cheated this other lady out of R250, supposedly.  It just seems like someone with a bad attitude in life who was obviously beaten by a big cookie monster kid at school as a child …
What do you think?
This is a true [...]
