Discovery Health Issues
Why oh why does one of the best Medical Aid companies I have used have to screw their reputation up with me based on a fault of their own. I cancelled my account with them last year October due to me not being able to afford medical aid during unemployment. The balance in my Medical Savings Account was R3300 and was due to be paid to me on 17 Feb (6 month cool down period). Now, my normal banking account was frozen due to it being over my overdraft allowance for various reasons, so I have no access to any funds going into that account.
So, I requested banking detail changes on 14 January 2009, I sent through the necessary documentation and even got a confirmation from the call center consultant that the documentation had been received and passed on to the necessary department.
Anyway, 17 Feb 2009 comes along and they have put the money into the incorrect account and on further investigation I find that the banking details were not changed the department denied having received my banking detail changes. So after two weeks of battling back and forth between departments, speaking to different people everytime I get told that Discovery Health cannot recall the finds from my Standard Bank account and I must now speak to Standard Bank. Passing the buck, what’s new?
So now I stand with R3300 less and absolutely nowhere to go. What do I do? Anyone got any ideas?

That is NOT hot! Has the bank traced the money? If you have all the communication and mails I say go straight to the papers!! And RT on twitter…
We settle for shocking unacceptable service – time to change that!
It’s a difficult one – the fact that they’ve paid the money is one thing (a big thing, mind) counting against you.
The only thing you can do is talk to someone there and have all the details available – ie: call centre reference number, person you spoke to, date of call etc and explain the situation to them.
Might not work, mainly for the reason I stated above. If not, gimme a shout on FB and I’ll try something on my side…
Good luck man – Myles
You could always cancel your med aid with them.. oh you already done that.. hmmm.. you could change your voice and say your name is Deborah Patter and they better fix or else.. or you could set up a mailing server that will send spam to their mailserver with a message stating your displeasure.. or you could just go to standard bank and tell them you want your money or SOMEONE is going to have their kneecaps pulled out through their nostrils..
All just ideas.. use dont use.. I have more
