Lucky For You

I see you in the middle of the crowd looking for something more.  Something that will make the awesome lights and atmosphere a little more tantilising.  A man with dark complexion gives you that “edge” in a little white pill.  You ask yourself “What’s the harm?”, well here’s the harm …

Lucky for you, when you jumped the traffic light that 8 ton truck missed you.
Lucky for you, when you put a gun to your head, and pulled the trigger, it misfired.
Lucky for you, when you drink & drive, you arrive home in one piece.
Lucky for you, the guy you picked a fight with wasn’t in the mood to put you in hospital.
Lucky for you, the dog chewed on the roller-skate at the top of the stairs that you were about to step onto.

Lucky for you …

This is the game of Russian roulette that you play as you stare into the mass of colours as the music thumps away.  This is the game that you play, bargaining with your life. What for? Just for a little extra sensation?

What is the point I ask?  Why put something harmful in your body for that “extra”? Why put yourself at risk, and others around you for that matter?

You say to me … “I only do it every now and then.”  Well, I say, play Russian roulette and one day it will get you, sooner or later.

Are you naïve?  Are you young?  Are you stupid? Are you ignorant? What are you?

Lucky for you …

  I somewhat disagree with this article. Whilst I am in no way a user of illegal recreational drugs, I do partake in alcohol consumption every so often.

  I can understand that you would take ‘pity’ on the person ‘searching for something more’ but that is not always the case. Just like I like getting drunk and ‘altering’ my mind, these people enjoy it ‘every now and then’ too.

  You have to decide if your gripe is with its illegality, the chemical composition of the drug and the effects on your cognitive capacity, or simply the fact that ecstasy (not sure why you pick this drug in particular) somewhat increases your chances of meeting some sort of doom.

  If it’s the illegality then you have nobody got the government to blame. If it was legalised the ingredients could be controlled and the black market crap would disappear.

  If it’s the mind altering ability, then you simply have to group ecstasy with alcohol too. Both alter your state of mind, both increase your chances of accidents or ‘slipping on a rollerskate (?!)’.

  I am all for the legalisation of recreational drugs. People are allowed to poison their bodies with nicotine, alcohol, and various other substances – what makes these others so special?

  And you know, if they say ‘they only do it now and then’ maybe they do! Maybe they’re responsible – they don’t drive, or harm anyone else. Likening that to a game of Russian Roulette is an incongruous analogy.

  I choose not to take ecstasy because I have no interest in it; I however do not judge those who choose to. After all, the majority of the Western World use coffee to wake up every morning, it’s just a lesser version and concept of ecstasy.
