QuickReview – Audi TTS
So, I just had the privilege of driving the Audi TTS thanks to Torque Magazine. And oh what a privilege
One of only a few in the country at the moment, it was quite an entertaining drive to say the least.
2 litre Turbo Charge FSi, Quattro 4 Wheel Drive, 195kw, 0-100km/h in 5.2s, limited to 250km/h, sport mode setting for shock dampers….all equates to lots of fun driving. What a pretty car, the lines and curves are indicative of a sports car with style and rocket-performance to boot.
Great seating position, not intimidating like other vehicles with high door panels. Seats are comfortable, the same as the seats in the Audi R8 (disappointing if you just spent R1.8m on your R8).
This is basically a beefed up version of the Audi TT 2.0TFSi with Quattro, an extra 48kw (up from 147kw) and some nifty suspension damper settings (Audi Magnetic Ride Suspension) to stiffen the ride for a edgier response around corners. Add an extra R137,500.00 to the R390,000.00 price tag of the Audi TT and you need a whole bunch more budget for not that much more car.  Personally, I would take the R527,500.00, add a few extra to it and grab myself a demo Audi RS4.
After chatting to some people who have driven this car, they feel that the Nissan 350Z just seems to be a much better all rounder, especially with the greater KW and better price. The Nissa is a bigger car, and that is where the Audi wins hands down. It definitely is a quick little rocket and is much lighter than the Nissan 350z, but in the same breathe, the TTS really suffers terribly from under steer.
Overall … it’s a great car … but there are better out there for a better price.

when I took the standard TT (Quatro) for a spin, I loved the acceleration from first through to third, but things just get a little mundane from there on. Fourth is boring and there just isn’t enough power to get all that hopped up about.
And it felt almost too civilized.
Yeah, totally agree with you.
